Is it possible to plan an eat-in kitchen with special requests in only 29 m²?

If you have the sink in the middle of the room, you won’t be flexible later. You will always have the water pipe in the floor, and during your brunch the dirty pile of dishes will accumulate in the sink next to your buffet. I wonder why people wash up more often than they stand by the stove.

I read that often, and yes, I wash up often too. But that usually takes 30 seconds and has to do with dirt, which is also temporarily stored in the basin. And for everyone who has the sink on the island, their dish soap, sponge, and cloth are on the island as well. That’s not nice, especially if you don’t have spaciousness in the room. I would reconsider that.

Thanks, those are valuable tips! At first, I immediately thought, sure, I spend more/longer time at the sink (washing vegetables, cleaning larger pots and pans, expensive knives also don’t go in the dishwasher...) but how long do I watch over vegetables and fish etc. on the cooktop? How often and how long do I stir sauces? Do I have to keep a log now to figure that out? And yes, the kitchen island with a sink would definitely be fixed because of the water and the drain. At least the effort to change that later would be very high. I’ll think about it ... and I will certainly listen to the kitchen seller’s opinion about it. Probably the role of the downdraft extractor will also play a part in where and how it can be better installed.

Well, a kitchen just looks like a kitchen. The room isn't that big either for it to get lost. I personally wouldn't find that bad. I have a 1.5 basin where I use the half basin as a draining area. You can artfully stack a lot there. Even that doesn't look too stupid (although not really nice either) so that it bothers. It's washed and can go into the cabinet.

I think you have to observe yourself for a moment.
When I wash vegetables, it's done in seconds. The vegetables then go into a bowl, which is turned towards the island and then thoroughly chopped – and then straight into the pot or pan. I collect the vegetable scraps in a container for the compost...
When I wash my hands, gather the knives in the sink, sometimes clean an apple, get a glass of water to drink, refill the KVA with water, etc., dispose of crumbs, every time the sink looks unsightly, unclean (not dirty). So wet or crumbly. When the hand wash (pots, plastic, knives) dries, it doesn't look nice either. Personally, I don't like having that where I want it to look nice. My island is generally always clean and decorated.
That should be considered. There are certainly also counterarguments. But I guess everyone has to think about that for themselves.

The kitchen is also getting a "refresh."

No more "charade" that was never intended anyway. Very, very likely the kitchen will be planned this way. Here is my current status after a well-used weekend. Again, I had to recognize here: The family analyzes one's own behavior better than oneself

I was also quite sure at some point about this or a similar version. But I had to realize that neither an L-shaped nor, especially, a U-shaped kitchen fits well into the room if I want to get a reasonably decent table in and also not shortchange the living area (it shouldn't be). All other shapes except a simple kitchen line (which certainly houses all the required "machines" as well as enough storage space that I need as a single person.

Despite Photoshop, I didn’t quite manage to get the line to look the way it should. Suitable cabinet widths (e.g. 30cm pantry cabinet) are not available in that tool. The cabinet on the far left is supposed to be one like that. My daughter has a kitchen line 382cm wide (plus an island). But a family of five, there is a lot of fresh cooking going on. I am "miles away" from that. I have planned every storage need extensively ... and it fits great.

Food stocks, oils, powders, sauces, etc. (as before also in the existing Nobilia) will be stored in the 30cm pantry cabinet. The remaining drawers provide enough shelter for dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, glasses and cups, etc. There is plenty of room for everything. Where I will probably only want to (figuratively) move out with a suitcase. The necessary rest will be newly selected and purchased.

The design should be simple (clean) light gray glossy, the handles slightly color-contrasted (dark gray, max. anthracite).

The only thing not yet decided is the location of the small portafilter machine + grinder. But nothing else needs to (only if needed, e.g. toaster) stand on the countertop.

It may be that a small! matching sideboard (from the kitchen maker) will be (have to be) built for that.

I thank again for the partly "drastic" (necessary) words from some more experienced planners (but of course also and especially my family, even if they don’t read here).

I can finally approach the remaining planning (floors, electrical, smart home ...) a little more "freely."

Now definitely don’t get an L-shaped sofa. :p You had a regular sofa before. I thought that was nicer. :)
