Why does the washing machine have to be in front of the window? Is there really no other way? Really annoying with the pipe in the utility room. I actually like a low windowsill height. But currently impractical in the utility room.

No, it just doesn't fit any other way. The utility room has 4 walls, one is completely blocked by the heat pump, one has a door + house connection box, we need the long wall as the only storage space in the house, and then only the wall in front of the windows remains for the washing machine/dryer.

Where the image is still empty, there will be a washing machine plus dryer, which drain water via the utility sink or its connections. One wall is filled with technical equipment, two others now house a coat cabinet and a Billy office cabinet with doors used as a storage cabinet. There are accesses to the garden and the kitchen. The room is tiled and unheated; the technical equipment generates enough waste heat.

We have already paid over €1000 for an 80 cm and a 40 cm tall cabinet from the Ikea kitchen series (they are still in our utility room) and had to assemble them ourselves. I don't really find the €4000 for our complete utility room including all the compartments, drawers, stainless steel sink, waste separation system, and installation expensive. The quality of the drawers, etc. is at least two levels above Ikea's with Schüller.

What can be discussed are the cabinets, because whether premium, Ikea, Mittendrin, or custom-made, they are all just plywood and way too expensive.

When it comes to houses, it just feels like almost everything is way too expensive. If you want a nice system/look, you probably always have to pay a lot.
