I do not believe that our problem affects all vinyl floors. The floor we installed, NEO WOOD, has wood components, as the name suggests. Allegedly, this is exactly what caused problems, which is why the new floor is now only called NEO 2.0 and instead of wood, should contain stone meal as the carrier material. This is the statement from the specialist dealer and from Mr. Classen (who, as it turned out today, no longer works at Classen).

Unfortunately, I cannot say anything about the WIneo. A colleague has been installing it for two weeks now, but as a floating floor. If you still have time, I would ask her in February, after moving into the house, how satisfied she is with the floor.

When I read this, I don't really know whether I should lay vinyl now. Which ones can you recommend?

We are currently also in a dilemma whether to choose cork click parquet or click vinyl.

In terms of construction, these two floors are the same (cork impact sound insulation at the bottom, then an HDF wood board, then a cork layer, and above that either vinyl or cork again).

But when I read about the vinyl here, I might actually go for cork because I would be afraid that there could be problems with the vinyl even after it has been installed.

I once read that vinyl flooring might smell, that is artificially chemical when installed if you don’t ventilate for a day? (that would be a no-go for me)

Cork parquet is nice and warm underfoot, tested myself.
How is it with vinyl?

Best regards

Hmm, well, if anything, we have a glued version. We will probably have the floor installed ourselves starting in February, but of course, I am still curious about experiences.

Well, I can only speak about our sample pieces. We ordered and received samples from several manufacturers. Some samples already had a very chemical smell, and others did not at all from the beginning. From that perspective, I would just order some samples and compare them.

Vinyl is definitely warm on the feet, certainly warmer than tiled floors. However, I believe cork is a bit warmer.

Friends of mine have cork in the kitchen and two cats. Unfortunately, their click cork no longer looks nice at all because everything is scratched....

We installed the vinyl floor from Bauxxxx in a floating manner. That was in March of this year. Almost the entire basement (approx. 79 sqm). In the living kitchen area, the floor near the terrace double door (sunlight, south side) has come apart. On the sides, there is now a visible gap of about 6 mm. We had the kitchen built on the floor. And it only happened where the terrace door is. Also, I found the clicking and installation significantly more difficult than upstairs where I installed regular laminate flooring. Warm underfoot, yes, smell? Definitely not. Unfortunately, there are already a few scratches around the dining table despite fleece pads on the chair legs. Otherwise, I can recommend the floor. After winter, I will try to separate the rows again and reinstall them.

This evening we had a last-minute visit from the manufacturer. One of the managing directors came by, inspected, took measurements, looked at the edges, and photographed the floor. We had a pleasant conversation during which we were able to come to an agreement, as unfortunately our floor can no longer be saved. He promised to inform our dealer and contractual partner. By the end of next week, we should also receive the discussed matters in writing. I will report.
