Right - so either cut open or just screw

Right. Because I had the problem that the finishing strip wasn’t there, the tiles were already laid, and the door frame was installed. It was really a job to get the strip under there, bending it almost to the breaking point. But only after I had knocked the whole floor to the other end of the room (expansion joint at the opposite wall at zero) and sawed out a bit again with the MultiMaster. That definitely won’t work afterwards anymore. I think simply screwing it on top afterwards will be problematic though. First, you need big and long screws, which will also be noticeable. Second, I don’t know how stable the screed will remain in the long run if you keep walking over the strip all the time. I think the screws will break out quite quickly. But that’s just a layman’s opinion.

Gluing

But normally I don't want that - it should hold as well.

I also have glued strips that have lasted at least 2 years. Apart from that, a lot is now glued in cars as well, and it holds.

Only glued on the floor covering? Good, then that could possibly work.

Yes. The adhesive was already on the strips, but I had to shorten them a bit, and could already tell that it sticks "like the plague."
