For us, it is also more about shelves and dressers as affordable additions to existing furnishings (like Kallax and Malm), a few inexpensive Lack side tables, and the Mammut children's table with chairs. So everything that doesn't have to last forever but should still be sturdy. In addition, I have the practical Ivar system as storage shelves for the utility room, HAR, and attic. Our self-built built-in wardrobe in the hallway is partly made from Pax built-in accessories and doors from the Ikea kitchen segment. Otherwise, there are no large pieces of furniture so far.

When we refurnish our bedroom in 2-3 years, I will look into PAX as an alternative.

Otherwise, we mainly buy decorations (especially candles) and storage options like Samla boxes.

So I find Pax especially good, and also high-quality,

I recently went through in my mind what we have from Ikea, or rather, what we don’t. It turned out: kitchen, sofa, children’s chair, office chair, and piano are the only things not from Ikea.

Why do we buy Ikea? First big argument: immediate availability! When I go to Mömax and others, I still have eternal delivery times in some cases. On the other hand, many furniture pieces, no matter where, are square, practical, and good. Whether it’s a simple white shelf or a wardrobe (if it stands in a closet room, why spend a lot of money?!). Billy shelves are proven, cheap, quickly available, and easy to expand.

You can make a lot of science out of buying furniture, but most furniture you get in furniture stores is almost arbitrarily interchangeable (particleboard with foil). And what works well for us with Ikea is that you can quickly expand or change existing furniture (new doors/drawers) and thereby quickly create something new. Or you sell the things with a little loss and can then quickly furnish yourself anew without spending a huge fortune.

So you hardly see any quality differences compared to the other "chipboard providers" but extreme price advantages at Ikea? And it should be available immediately.

I think the standard furniture will cost roughly the same everywhere.
Although, to be honest, Pax is almost unbeatable as a system. If I no longer like the doors, so what, I just buy new ones. I can even relatively easily switch from hinged doors to sliding doors. That’s not possible otherwise.

Another advantage with IKEA: I check in advance if everything I need in the required quantity is available in the store; if not, I go to another one (we have 3 IKEAs close by).
As mentioned earlier: I can even create my list at home in advance, just go to the hall and load everything onto the cart, since I already have the shelf and compartment numbers.

And yes, it will cost less. After all, there is no warehouse worker who has to pick everything.

So two years ago we bought new chipboard furniture for the living room at Möbel Kraft, sideboard etc., a few pieces for just under 1600 euros. At the same time, a large Pax wardrobe for the children's room for 600. The Pax was far ahead in terms of processing and assembly.
