My sister also said recently that people's attitudes towards furniture have noticeably changed. Most younger and middle-aged people prefer to travel and have experiences. Furniture is unimportant. It just has to hold the stuff and that's it. Older people, on the other hand, value quality and comfort more. There are still plenty, but when they die off, we'll only have Ikea left.
For a piece of worked wood! by a carpenter, I am certainly willing to pay quite a bit. Even beyond 1500,-. However, not for cut and coated chipboard. That is Ikea's strength. They cannot do really nice wood. But neither can Nolte and Co. They are only chipboard coaters as well. Team 7 can do that. Karsten
I wanted to go to massivum in Leipzig over the weekend. They make affordable solid wood furniture - with (I believe) moderate quality. I've been looking for bathroom furniture for a long time. Let's see if what you see in the pictures on the internet really looks like that in reality.

I don't know Team 7 now, but there are quite big differences in coatings. For example, real wood veneer can hardly be distinguished from solid wood. But it is also chipboard underneath.
