Hello everyone,

as the question says, I am puzzled that the Ikea kitchens are quite inexpensive. What about the workmanship, that is the quality? And the IKEA hinges? Do IKEA kitchens last long?

Best regards

Affordable kitchen prices are relative .. you have to calculate the following:

    [*]Kitchen delivery
[*]Kitchen assembly of the individual parts
[*]Kitchen assembly of the entire kitchen

(Ikea charges, for example, 199 euros per linear meter of kitchen)

And then it also applies that the optimal layout can suffer due to the limited range of only 20, 40, 60, and 80 cm wide cabinets depending on the room.

So, my first post. Ikea kitchens are good. I know many people whose Ikea kitchens are already 20 years old or older. I also have partial Ikea parts in my kitchen and am very satisfied. And when it comes to price, the quantity makes up a large part. For me, a plus is that I can change the fronts for relatively little money if I no longer like them.

I am very satisfied with our Ikea kitchen. We have about 9m of countertop space in total (a large L-shape and an island). Almost no wall cabinets.

However, in terms of price, Ikea is not really cheap. So, if price is important, I think IKEA is not the first choice.

Also, you should have some DIY skills. Especially if you want to cover dead corners (there is nothing off the shelf from IKEA for that).

Overall, the two of us spent 3 days assembling the kitchen, aligning it, and doing the necessary carpentry work (such as covering dead corners). These are also "costs" that should not be underestimated.

Furthermore, IKEA is not really optimal due to its rigid pattern when small rooms with many corners and interruptions need to be filled. But you can find this out quickly with the IKEA kitchen planner.

We have planned/bought 4 kitchens in the last 10 years due to many moves. Mostly we also went to Ikea, but we never bought there. What we wanted was more expensive at Ikea. Especially because we do not assemble ourselves. Maybe it would have been best if we had bought the Ikea modular kitchen the first time, it could simply have moved with us. In the end, we always planned and bought at the furniture store. Currently, however, we have 4 Ikea kitchen cabinets hanging/standing in the bathroom. They are fine there, but I find my kitchen cabinets from Alno better.
