Well, then these old ones are just like you now: they certainly had something in mind (even if we can’t ask them to explain it anymore), and in part were not understood.

No, that would not be “conservative,” but “traditional.”

.

First of all, thanks for the insight into the thoughts behind the design. That a house (design) is personal is definitely a positive quality. The buyer or heir can certainly remodel if they please. Others here also claim to build “for themselves.”

Sleeping chambers where everyone is alone with their peace don’t have to be understood by others. I also find alcoves appealing.

How should we actually imagine the unpictured roof: will there be a skylight above the atelier?

I agree with you about the greenhouse: it can be moved quickly if it bothers someone. Some tool sheds are bigger and stand right on the fence.

I can understand many wishes very well and will summarize again in my own words:

[*]Kitchen/dining room (although I don’t like the current design either, but I am also a kitchen junkie and fan of tables)

[*]shared lounge room .. so living room
[*]piano but please in a way that the partner can also do something independently
[*]studio .. is painting really done there? Or is it a separate recreation room
[*]single bedroom .. would a shared dressing area be conceivable? I find the room size itself absolutely fitting, my bedroom is similarly sized with a 120cm wide bed.

[*]What about a sauna ... wouldn’t it perhaps be better on the ground floor (to go outside) .. maybe even separately in the garden by the swimming pond? It’s a swimming pond, right?
[*]Could one not plan to bring the building technology to the upper floor under the roof?

Sun all day in the house ... wonderful.

What I currently don’t like about the design: the windcatcher/entrance hall etc. seem to me to be big square meter killers. Then quite a few angles in the room arrangement.

Can one assume that the drawn-in furniture more or less corresponds to your wishful idea?

HeDi, I sent you a plan as a private message, not to copy, but as an inspiration to play around with. Think like this: leave the entrance where it is. On one side next to the entrance with an exterior window the small WC, next to it the utility room, on the other side your living kitchen. Attached to that is the living room on the back side, next to this your two bedrooms, then at the back the bathroom between the bedroom and the utility room. You’ll have to see how the stairs work out. Now you have all the water and sewage stuff together at the front, you sleep and live on the backside. Yes, and a room for yourself alone of 10 sqm is enough. Easily. And don’t get upset about words like "conservative" or "traditional." Whoever uses those as (de)valuing terms is not mature. Modern implies fashion, not the label good. Conservative means preserving, not stubbornness. Karsten

What you say about the old folks is probably true. Especially since they also had their limitations regarding technical and financial possibilities.

And, well, then tradition it is. We are neither.

And I have planned the skylight above the studio, yes.

Hey. Yes. Exactly. In the studio there is a lot of painting, jewelry making. But also some carving sometimes. So, it is definitely a workspace and will probably be one of the most frequently used areas in the house.

I have been tinkering with the plan the whole time already; it’s not like I’m not able to learn. The sauna has now shifted into the large storage room, the gallery is bigger, and the studio takes up the entire rear area. When I’m done, I’ll post some pictures again. An outdoor sauna is an alternative, definitely. But also a budget question, since it costs three times as much as an indoor one. And yes, it is planned to be a swimming pond, at least planned, but not right away, budget as always. In principle, you’re certainly right, I’ve already experimented with the building services as well.
In the revised design there are fewer angles on the ground floor, but the guest WC is still inside. Maybe I’ll leave it out altogether.

Some of the furniture is already partially existing, e.g. the lounge couch in the living room, piano, etc. We have found that when we have guests, we still always somehow sit and/or stand in the kitchen. That’s why we also don’t have a proper sitting couch (anymore).

I thought of using the hall similarly to a living room. The piano can stand there, maybe also a dresser. That’s why the size seemed so good to me. I made the thing narrower once, then it was like a long corridor. Didn’t like that.

And sun is the most important thing for us at all, partly for health reasons.

And thanks.

I find the position of the eat-in kitchen exactly right. It is the spot with a short distance to the west area of the terrace .. a nice place in summer for dinner, barbecue evenings, etc.

Yes, because of visits and so on, which always end up at the table, I am a fan of the table with kitchen sofa .

How do the dimensions of the house design actually come about?

For the conservatory feeling in the dining area, I would extend it to the full height of the roof and also glaze the top.

"Conservative" means sticking with the old until something new comes along that is better.

"Traditional" means sticking with the old because it has been there for so long.

"Going along with every crap" would therefore not be conservative, because crap is not good – but "traditional," because going along with every crap has always been popular.
