Thank you for the draft. There are some interesting ideas in it. The kitchen across looks good, the living room is possibly too narrow for me with "only" 4m.

The topic [Tochter] is also relevant for us...

I will take a closer look at it this evening!

The living room looks much more spacious with Kaho than if the sofa is placed in the middle of the overall 8m wide room as a room divider. Uncomfortable position, because with the back to the open space, partially in the corridor extension. And it was only 4 m to the wall with the TV.

The 4m to the TV is intentional, that was not my concern at all. I'm more concerned about the area that the living space essentially loses in terms of floor space. Whether that simultaneously results in a gain in coziness is very difficult for me to assess.

So far, everywhere I have lived, including my parents' house, the sofa was placed in the room as in my design. I still need to deal with the fact that it can be done differently and possibly also has advantages.

I'll think it through tonight.

Usually, the room loses its coziness when the sofa stands across the room. Having a wall at the back is more comfortable for the person sitting. It must be some kind of cave instinct from Neanderthal times. But that doesn’t mean one couldn’t get used to it.

As mentioned, shortening the pantry and making the living room even deeper would also be possible. However, the structural engineer would then have to be asked whether the beam above the kitchen is sufficient to span the remaining 5m depth and 9m width. After all, there will be another floor above and a roof.

A sofa in the room visually makes the room look smaller. It can be done in large rooms, but without necessity, it is not my recommendation.

I myself currently live like this, in a rental apartment, the owner lived there and designed it as a pseudo loft. Huge living room, because a hallway was completely omitted. Huge sofa landscape placed in the middle to not be too far from the TV and to somehow divide the room usefully. Traffic routes around it.

For someone looking from outside, it looks good. For the one lounging on the sofa... you are basically on display.

A smaller living room + hallway with sensible partitions would have been better. Screw the loft.

Just because something has always been that way does not automatically mean it is good.

We have already discussed this with a general contractor. As a precaution, he made the ceiling 2cm thicker in the calculation.
