Hello everyone,

slowly but surely... :)

We have now reduced the entire floor area based on the advice by shrinking the exterior walls by 70 cm and 50 cm. The floor plan should still be quite usable and there should be no bottlenecks!?

In addition, we have drawn a "slanted" wall from the hallway to the living/dining area, so that the basement entrance is in the hallway (possibly even an improvement on @Würfel's suggestion):

Feedback for further improvements is, as always, welcome, which the thread’s course and the associated "improvement process" should reflect. Although of course, if the floor plan now allows it, we want to come to an end...

Many thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hm, due to a lack of dimensions (external dimensions etc.), a reduction cannot be assessed at all.

For the basement stairs, you will need to plan a 1/4-turn staircase from the basement, which will require a minimum width of about 125 cm on the ground floor. The approach by in seems more generous both for the hallway area and for the entrance area dining/living.

I find the center of the house very messy, impractical, visually disturbing, and terrible in my eyes. I believe I would be annoyed every day by this bottleneck and the slanted wall. Why don’t you rotate the stairs, leave out the slanted wall, and make the approach upstairs with a spiral, thus keeping a straight wall facing the living room. You could make much better use of the basement entrance near the entrance. What does utility room in the bathroom mean? You have the basement for doing laundry! It’s no fun listening to the machine while staying in the bathroom.

and :

Thank you. The fact that the wall is not straight also bothers us immensely. The idea of rotating the stairs and using a spiral staircase sounds good. However, I fear that this will not gain enough length to straighten the wall to the living room and kitchen? The new staircase would have to be 80-100 cm shorter or I would have to drastically reduce the guest room, which would then make it unfurnishable? But maybe I haven't fully understood your proposed solution.

... your drawing initially suffers from the lack of proper dimensions. And without measurements, recommendations are always difficult.

And, your concept differs from the concept of ... however, Würfel* has incorporated his plan into the original drawing. Unfortunately, external dimensions are also missing there, so the two designs cannot be compared now.

And, I did not say to rotate the staircase.

I think the reduction works well. But I really don’t like the slanted wall; I would stick to my solution there. The stairs to the basement can either go straight from the living room or with a quarter turn from the dining room. : We have exactly such a quarter turn on our 1-meter-wide basement stairs and it works perfectly and is comfortable to walk. You don’t need to remove any steps there.

What I also don’t like about your house is this frame on the north facade. It blocks the western sun on the balcony and on the north terrace. That’s a shame. But otherwise, I like the floor plan!
