Either I overlooked it or it was not mentioned: "OE" and the term "Stiege" indicate 99.99% our neighboring country, to what extent this plays a role legally and also regarding the budget (here in Germany it makes a big difference whether it's Munich or a Saxon village) I cannot judge, but this info probably won't harm the other discussants... ;)

I'm not sure if it makes a big difference, but you recognized that correctly.

Even though it has been said x times here, I will say it again, simply because I cannot let any forum member blindly run to their doom: 600,000 is so unrealistic. My best friend had a house built 8 years ago with the same budget as you want: meaning, she did not help herself. Her house turned out nice, and when I saw it for the first time, I expected a pool and sauna for that budget. But no, it is just a normal big house with extras like a gas fireplace and a roof terrace. And that was 8 years ago!

You recognized it yourself. It is meant to inspire.
Many of these compromise plans have a common core.
Namely a red thread.
Either great architecture (regarding room layout) and cheap materials like monolithic cubature, corrugated iron roof, few but well-positioned windows.
Or simple design of the area with high investment in trades.

For me, on the one hand, the realization to rather be small (tending to be too small) but refined was decisive.
That we now end up small and cheap has less to do with the planning and more with the cost explosion.
On the other hand, self-control not to get lost in your dream house, always wanting the best of everything, but skillfully and deliberately building affordably in certain trades.
For example, for us, no dormers, no skylights, no projections or extensions.
Around outside, gravel and lawn instead of stones and marble.

What we also had to learn is that copying Pinterest is often the wrong way.
Because visual impressions rarely have anything to do with reality.

Regarding accessibility, you need to decide how far you can imagine it. Many things are simply comfortable with aching bones and joints. Many things now just require brainpower and later cost a lot of money. Like too small bathrooms, too small doors, missing turning areas.

If you want to reduce to 2 levels, a stairlift will do. Provide a turning area and an electrical connection.
