We currently already have a similar solution, hence the idea. It is an island with a higher wall (approx. 1.20) on one side, which also serves as a bar. As you write, it is not 100% privacy, but that's not what we are aiming for.

From my own painful experience (Bau noch nicht fertig) I believe that with a house like this you will never ever manage with 600,000. We had planned a large house (5 people) with 700k + buffer and it is expected to cost at least 900,000. And we have no golden faucets and no 4m ceiling height. Compared to our first offers from 2020 you usually have to add 20 to 30%. :-/ also to the surprise of our architect.

The room is intended as a multifunctional space - usable for fitness, work (with associated storage space), and as a guest room (with a fold-away bed). Hence also the planned (but not yet drawn) bathroom with toilet near the sauna. We wanted one large room instead of several smaller ones. But maybe that is not such a good idea after all. Somehow it still doesn’t quite work…

How do you currently live? 70 sqm apartment or 180 sqm house? And what age is considered the best? Especially the best for what? (35?) Before anything else: please don’t leave us here. I want to know what happened in 2026 and especially how much over 1 million. ;)

Thank you very much for your encouraging words! I was really happy to read your comment.

To satisfy your curiosity ;) – we are both 58, so still fit but also mature enough to plan ahead. Hopefully staying calm during the building process as well... In addition, we are self-employed, so used to budgeting and watching out for potential pitfalls. Thanks therefore for the appeal not to discuss the budget any further. And true, I have the impression that our architect handles the given budget very responsibly.

I will gladly continue to report and ask for your suggestions, and I would be happy to hear from you again.
