Hello,

Provided that the different floor coverings were known from the start, the statement of the two gentlemen is pure self-protection ... they should take a look at comparable rulings.

Stay on it and write a defect complaint with a deadline. You are also not obliged to know the DIN ... Your general contractor owes you a defect-free service; he should coordinate with the screed layer or woodworm.

Rhenish greetings

@Meecrob, why am I avoiding the questions?

It was determined in the construction planning and written into the plans for the floor covering. It says:
Hallway / Kitchen = Tile
Living area = Parquet

Whose task is it now to determine the correct screed height for this, mine? Why do I have and pay a construction company and a site manager?
On site during the installation, it was discussed again based on the plans, that is clearly communicated that parquet is installed in the living area. I assume that the "specialist companies" then know how high the screed should be and if not, they ask this information from the responsible people.

What do you think I should have done differently or better?

Hello construction expert,
the floor coverings were known from the beginning and - as already mentioned - were recorded in the detailed planning.
On site, I was told that the screed in the parquet area has to be lower, but I do not understand that it is now so low that it is about 1 cm too low.
As mentioned in the initial post, we also do not have an "extra" thin parquet, which apparently exists so that this height difference does not arise in old buildings.

I will note it down, because for me it is a defect.
My contractor says it is not a defect, that is then the crucial question. Who defines a defect in this case? And what would a solution look like? Apart from an initial mentioned article - for public institutions and workplaces - which speaks of > 4mm, I have not found anything that leads to a definitive statement.

Hello,

As already written, you don’t have to know the DIN. But if it reassures you, it is in my opinion DIN 18202 - permissible flatness tolerances for surface-finished floors, such as screed. 4 mm is the maximum permissible tolerance limit; so bad news for the screed layer.

Whether 1.2 cm can be compensated with a leveling compound I cannot reliably answer; I am neither a screed nor a tile layer. But I think it should be possible, because the tile layer usually uses not much less.

Rhenish regards

I no longer know where I read it: It is not you who must prove that it is a defect, but your GU must prove to you that it is not a defect! But I still do not understand the whole thing, since with us tiles with adhesive are at the same height as parquet with adhesive.

Don’t you have any heights specified in the construction planning? For us, the tiles were recorded with a height of 11mm and the cork (this specification came from us, since it’s our own work) with 8mm. We also have an offset of about 3-4mm – only the people responsible here justify it by referring to EPI’s DIN, claiming that such a difference is within tolerance. Every parquet floor can be of different thickness, can’t it?! Accordingly, the screed installer can only determine and compensate for the height difference based on thickness specifications (8mm / 12mm etc.), right?
