I am deeply impressed that an early exit from the football World Cup apparently suffices to make such a thread shoot up to eleven pages so quickly.

"Back to the topic"

In #20 I read about a marten that pooped on the car – on the same night the crime scene was illuminated. It occurs to me that a marten and Bigfoot could be identical.

In #22 I then read about a one-year-old. How completely "house-trained" is he already? – otherwise, I would be inclined to lay one of his diapers overnight at the questionable spot – if it’s about territory marking, that should throw Bigfoot off balance.

I also always laugh when I read the horrendous numbers. Every cat owner I ask about this reports an average of 4 birds per year, if the cat hunts at all. Of the millions of cats in DE, by far not all are outdoor cats. Exact numbers do not exist because they are not registered. Effectively, one can only say: no one knows how many birds really die because of cats, since no one knows how many outdoor/wild cats there are. The well-kept outdoor cats are not the problem either. Most are so well fed that they really wouldn’t want to eat birds regularly. The problem is posed by farms that do not keep their groups of cats under control. So yes, a neutering obligation is urgently needed. But it will not really solve the problem of the declining bird population. But guys, we are totally OT.

Larks are in the garden
Lapwing no idea
Pheasant and quails in the wild never.
How could they be
Every little corner is used and cultivated. The windbreak hedges disappeared for good in the 80s.
No more cottage gardens nothing.
The stream where we played as children is no longer overgrown
Even our cherished and cared-for “wild ducks” at the marketplace didn’t manage to breed successfully this year. The nests are raided. No protection from cats, martens, foxes and co.

By the way friends keep chickens, quails, pheasants and co as a hobby. Their own cats roam in between. Nothing happens except the mouse and rat population is reduced.

There is a lack of breeding sites, food and co.

Hello

ok, everyone has their established opinion.
Even if it is "only" 4 birds per year per outdoor cat, we are in the double-digit million range. Shouldn't the limit for nature conservation be reached here?
But let's go back to the cat poop in the neighbor's garden. Why should the neighbor have to tolerate this? Cat training or not. I also can't let my python slither around outside overnight.

Wow! You are allowed to shoot a crossbow publicly in residential areas? I wouldn't have thought that! Those things are sometimes deadlier than firearms.
