And what are you saving now for only getting half of it?

We will see that in the overall overview. We definitely want to maintain the 20% equity ratio, as this offers clear advantages in the terms. Therefore, we will now review the changed situation to decide whether we want and can afford it. Otherwise, it will just remain with the floor slab and the standard foundation. According to a rough calculation by the general contractor, that would probably be a difference of €15,000. And the partial basement would be more than sufficient for us, especially if you plan completely without one beforehand, as it would have the full house length of 10m.

Partial basement in the front or back might still be acceptable - but a partial basement for one longitudinal half in a house that is 7 m "wide" in total seems very inefficient to me.

Let's assume you are building a basement that is three meters wide but 12 meters long. Somewhere there has to be a staircase going down and no matter where you place it, the rooms will either become very elongated but narrow or at least one will become a walk-through room.

How do you want to use the rooms?

Well, since I have currently moved them to the attic (heat pump including ventilation system as well as washing machine, dryer, and hanging laundry), and maybe still lack storage space, the basement would be purely utility and storage space for us.
