It's not about who installs it, but who signs off the installation as compliant with the standards. That person also takes responsibility, and that can only be an [Elektromeister]. So if the brother-in-law doesn't have a master's title himself, you need someone who trusts you in that regard and also thoroughly checks everything again.

Good morning everyone,

my brother-in-law is an electrical master.
The architect's fee is priced at €28,500 gross for all service phases.

Hopefully, I am not incorrigible :) I am grateful for honest feedback and, as I said, I also have Plan B in mind.
This also includes omitting a floor and planning bedrooms + bathroom in the basement. This topic has already been touched upon with the architect, but I don't yet know what it would mean in terms of price. Does anyone here perhaps have an idea?

You can find an electrical master very quickly through the portal with the hammer. But for the money some want for the acceptance of the external system, you might as well have everything done directly. Recently, a "frugal fox" in the family paid €5000 for the acceptance, plus he had to buy material through the master at double the price
But I worry less about that here. If the trained electrician (brother-in-law) is still active in the construction industry himself, he will certainly have someone at hand.

More interesting is the question whether this plan will work:

Possibly, the buddy is better used later for the terrace and garden design on the hillside property.

By invest you probably mean time. So far, you have only roughly estimated what you think you can save. But how much do you have to spend on materials, that is financially reinvest? For each trade, you need a breakdown of how much it costs without EL, how much you save with EL, and how much you spend on materials. If you miscalculate, you will have to finance expensive additional costs, so please proceed carefully and don’t deceive yourself.

Don’t do that. Building a house with a lot of EL alongside working is super exhausting and poison for any relationship. Don’t ruin your own retreat. You live cheaply. You should keep that. And if you really can’t afford these 5xx€ rent for a year anymore, then the house building project is not for you.

But that only works if you can rely on your architect and he tells you what is possible or not, what is feasible, and that's exactly what I don't see. Whoever of you two has not put all the information on the table right now does not play a role in assessing the situation for the time being. What is obvious is that your architect is not calculating with current prices and is leading you straight into the trap. For whatever reason. You can do that, no question, but not with you and the income or decreasing income due to family planning.

How do you want to settle this among yourselves? 50/50 even though one pays more? Have you been equally involved so far or does the property come from one of you?...
