Diagonal looks like it's from the 80s. Unless the tiles are really not too large, emphasizing the grout pattern.

Personally, I find square tiles nicer. I have grown tired of the rectangular ones. I also find it either boring or salesroom-like when the whole house is laid with the same tile.

I have both a horizontal grout and a diagonal one. I love my tiles and am glad every day that I didn’t choose 30x60 or something like that.

The neighbors all have rectangular tiles and I don’t find any of them really nice. At best, their floor doesn’t bother me. But I couldn’t enjoy it.

But it can also make the hallway look narrower and longer. A good tile salesman should be able to advise on that.

Natural stone is, for me, the (unaffordable ;-) ) ultimate. It doesn't get any better, in my opinion. :-) Every now and then we stay overnight in Dresden in a hotel whose walls are partly made of/with sandstone. Do you believe me that I often stand by the wall and stroke it. ;-)

I think your tiles and the way they are laid are great. I could well imagine something like that for us in a lighter cream tone. However, I plan to set accents in the individual rooms with (self-adhesive) partly striking wallpapers on one wall. Therefore, I want a rather subdued, simple floor so that it doesn’t become too much. But we’ll see, we’re just at the beginning and I really like your tiles. By the way, my husband doesn’t like the idea of the same floor everywhere either, so my wishes might still change.

Seriously! My opinion, which I shared with the OP ;) Do you have any advice for the OP as well?

Seriously?

Depends... light/windows, width, length and generally

They look very nice. I compare them (not in style, more like a phase) to the curved small 70s tiles, they look like a spade: at some point, one gets very tired of the pattern.
But enjoy them!
I also think that especially tiles and floors go out of style very quickly: used to be diagonal, tile ornaments, framing... today, mostly plain surfaces... there are so many great stones, structures, slips, surfaces, colors, accents, dabs, sizes and shapes – so something can really go wrong very quickly without you knowing beforehand ;)
They fit right in – they’ll be available to buy again :)

I'll also quickly throw the linoleum idea in again: if it's so hard to decide for or against certain tiles and it should be a calm floor, then linoleum is something to consider. Nowadays, it also comes in nice designs, is easy to maintain and durable, and has no joints at all. :D

How nice that you also find my hallway tiles nice. I wouldn’t want a whole living room with them either. I'm curious how long I will like them. At the moment, I claim that I have the nicest hallway in the neighborhood. :D
