Yes, the tiles are coming back, maybe not necessarily on the floor. But on the walls as an eye-catcher. They are not old-fashioned, but modern again ;-)

We are building with a general contractor. We mentioned larger formats. He said that these are no problem, but we have to expect additional costs per sqm and for laying. But it definitely doesn't have to be 120 x 280. :)

Matte with broken surface appealed to us. So not solid color, but with a slight pattern.

Prices include VAT.
Favorite tile 1: Thickness 9mm, slip resistance class 10
60 x 60 cm = €39.21
30 x 60 cm = €35.64

Favorite tile 2: Thickness 10mm, slip resistance class R10/A
45 x 90 cm = €49.86
30 x 60 cm = €41.53
60 x 60 cm = €47.48

In both cases, there do not seem to be larger formats. At least nothing was marked.

Take a look at the Atlas Concorde tiles, they also have something like that in all sizes.

Here is another update: After a lot of reading here and discussions with my wife, I went to the tile studio again today. The consultant there put a clear stop to my plan "The same tile throughout the whole house, larger format in the highlight rooms and smaller format in the lowlight rooms." He explained to me that "one" would choose one format and then use it consistently throughout the house. At most, possibly on the walls in the bathroom (but rather not) one would switch to a different format. His reasoning: Tiles in different formats are fired differently and therefore would not match. I had our floor plans with me and replied that I could understand the argument, but in our case there is only one instance where two tiled rooms adjoin. He didn't really let that count. We would notice it throughout the whole house. How did you do it? One format for the whole house or varied? Can you understand the rule and its reasoning?

Nonsense. That is a matter of taste.
