I know! I love it! I would get compliments here with the words: "It looks really great and suits you, but it wouldn’t be anything for us.."

We were at the tile store yesterday and today at two bathroom exhibitions. I will sort the photos later and write a few lines and thoughts this evening.

That looks absolutely great! Very elegant and nothing about the floor stands out unpleasantly dominant. On the contrary, it recedes pleasantly. You made a very good choice.

As promised, here is my experience report. First, the hard facts:
Our gut feeling was confirmed in the showrooms. Like our house, we want the tiles to be clean and modern. My wife also wants the same tile to be laid in every tiled room, only possibly in different sizes. In terms of color, it should be a light, clear (so not with a brownish tint or too strong pattern) gray. I have photographed two favorites from the drawer. We also passed by a showroom bathroom with 30 x 60 cm wall tiles. I don't like that at all because there are so many grout lines. Next to it was a shower with 120 x 280 cm tiles. That was amazing. We also looked at different laying patterns. We have to stick with the cross pattern. :)

In summary, according to , our taste could be described as "Greek airport toilet but in light." ;)

What thoughts come to you professionals when you read my lines and look at the photos?

Photo 1: Favorite tile 1
Photo 2: Favorite tile 2
Photo 3: 30 x 60 tiled bathroom with retouched wife
Photo 4: Shower with 280 x 120 wall tile. Few grout lines, I like that a lot
Photo 5: Example bathroom. Is this laid sensibly/good or bad?
Photo 6: Bathroom with 45 x 90 tile, but with a too brown and too dark shade

I actually wanted to write that tile type and grout color are probably more relevant than the format. We were just at friends who have laid their new bathroom with concrete gray tiles (60x30) with cement-colored grout. I really had to crouch down to even see a transition. With you, it’s going in a similar direction, and in photo 3 you can clearly see how the grout is almost invisible. If the tiles also have a matte surface, it looks very homogeneous and calm.

Otherwise, I also find larger formats quite suitable in narrow rooms. All rooms on the north side of our house are max 2.5m deep and uniformly tiled with 90x45 in the longitudinal direction. In the kitchen, only about 115cm remain between the two kitchen rows, which means you only see two and a half rows of tiles... I have no problem with that.

Two very subjective remarks: I would always lay in a random pattern – everything else is too Prussian for me (especially herringbone, sorry). I don’t like wall tiles at all and avoid them whenever possible (we only have them in the shower).

I don’t like cropped large formats at all. We were at the tile studio four weeks ago and I felt like I was in a coma because of the ten thousand shades of gray-beige.
