In this regard, I hope to sneak around and convince my husband that we will only put tiles on the walls in the bathrooms that absolutely have to have tiles and wallpaper the rest. Because then we can replace the wallpaper more easily if we no longer like it. Or printed glass instead of tiles. And if it turns out in daily use that it really doesn’t work without tiles, we can always "retile" ourselves. I am actually afraid of the selection appointment, but I will open a separate post on this topic once our appointment is fixed.

We have 120x60cm tiles in the bathroom and vestibule. We really like that. The tiles in the utility room are 30x60cm and are also nice. If you like your parents-in-law's 30x60cm tiles, then go ahead and do that.

That is why I consider 30 cm x 60 cm as 'good & cheaper' than e.g. 80 cm x 80 cm of the same series. They are then (equally) good & more expensive. ... to refute the idea of 'small format/checkered thinking'

We completed the selection appointment with our 6-month-old baby, which didn’t exactly lower the stress level. We had packed 2 sets of change clothes which were already soiled within the first hour. But we were able to improvise, the pee accident had almost dried by the second accident.
Our builder was relaxed, as was the selector. If we hadn’t managed it in one day, we would have simply added another day. But I don’t think that would have made it easier. You have to make so many decisions, and for some things I was relatively sure quite quickly (gut feeling), while for other things, even after 3 more days, I wouldn’t have been able to decide any more thoroughly.
In the end, it only really appears as it does when everything comes together. And then you also see the mistakes. We have a beautiful wooden staircase. And a beautiful wood decor design floor upstairs. Unfortunately, they are so similar in color, yet so far apart, that the transition between staircase/hallway looks so bad that I could get split ends. :D

Natural stone (in our case travertine "Classic Light") does not have to be expensive. We ordered from Jonastone online and paid 40 EUR per square meter. Here are some pictures.. (the last one still from the construction period)

Nice and bright :) I don't find the front door suitable, at least it doesn't look fitting with the style of the interior design that can be seen. I also wouldn't choose strap hinges, but concealed hinges instead. This is mainly because we have such hinges on the interior doors as well.
