A tile that costs 30€/sqm is good because it fulfills its purpose as a tile. At the same time, it is cheaper than a large-format tile! Where exactly is that a judgment? That is a fact! That is exactly what the OP conveyed in the initial post. Why do you have to associate my "good & affordable" with something that is not my intention? See the previous sentence. And that the brand "Gut & Günstig" does not necessarily mean a lack of quality should have become common knowledge by now. I’m also not claiming that YOU think small-scale just because you prefer small tiles and many joints!

Size has nothing to do with quality. Good qualities are consistently flat when fired, their glaze withstands if something hard falls on it, without chipping. These are quality characteristics. 60 by 30 is a great format.

With 30x30 and 30x60 you really can't call it small format ;) ... I call 10x10 or 10x15 up to 25x25 small format ;).

I find 30x60 up to 60x60 very nice, as it offers beautiful laying possibilities and that is also very important, especially if you want to tile continuously. You have to think about the laying, meaning also the expansion joints, etc., so that transitions look good and do not appear poorly done. I also find the joint width important; if you think back to earlier times with 5 mm and wider joints and compare that to today's possibilities of 1-2 mm with calibrated tiles, it really makes a big difference.

I never claimed otherwise. See post #37 But I really don’t like the tiles in the bathroom. That’s not bad, I think, for example, of the guest bathroom of .

I find the tiles chic – despite the small format! It wouldn’t be my style, but surely appealing in the right setting.

There are too many joints for me (!).

Tell me, don’t you find that a bit presumptuous or even insulting – despite or maybe because of the smiley? I expected more decency from you ...

However, I have the impression that tile manufacturers still do not consider the joint measurements, meaning: they do not coordinate the formats as a system so that you can combine 60-30-20 with the same joint width without having to fudge at the transitions.
