I want to bump my thread again. We were non-bindingly at "our" tile studio today to get a first impression without any pressure to decide. Meanwhile, thanks especially to this thread, we are once again looking at the measurements and sizes of the rooms and then deciding which size makes sense. A question comes up for me here. Our entrance area is dimensioned as 2.51m x 7.30m in the construction specification. I am now wondering whether 2.51m is still small enough for 2x 120cm or 4x 60cm or already too large. Can someone help me?

How about 90x90 or something like that?

90x90 would also only fit with waste.

You will never get the joint pattern congruent at every spot, especially in hallways, corners, door jamb entries and the like. Especially in the grid pattern, it will always "disturb" somewhere, and then it is better if it does so in many places rather than a few, so that it is less noticeable. The full pattern-to-residual ratio is more likely to be unfavorable the larger the format is – especially noticeable in the (particularly wall-parallel) grid pattern. I "vote" for 60x60.

Our tiler had suggested laying them crosswise, 60cm long, laid randomly, 10% waste is already factored in anyway. And mosaic at the door jambs for the visual continuity of joints and screed transitions
