With us, the sampling also only took 2 hours... but it only included windows, interior and exterior window sills, shutters, front door, and exterior facade...

We already knew which direction we wanted to go with the roof tiles beforehand, so I ordered them myself from the building materials store since we also installed the roof ourselves.

I chose a separate company for the electrical work, with whom I went through the switches and sockets beforehand. After that, the offer was made...

I ordered sanitary objects online and had them installed. Just here, I probably saved several hundreds or even thousands (when I read what a tub/toilet cost most people here).

Interior doors/frames were from the hardware store... even got a quote there. For the door handles, I made a spontaneous decision, also in the hardware store. Installation was done together with my dad...

The staircase was from Poland, a short conversation on site. Then ordered after viewing photos... almost half the price of the standard staircase offer from the German company. So far, I have already given out the address twice because our visitors liked it so much...

The longest really was the sampling of the kitchen, but that was probably more because I held back here and left the choice to my better half.

Some seem to use it more for the attention of others rather than really for themselves...

By the way, I only invested the saved money yesterday in a playground for my children... The joy it brought them somehow meant more to me than the recognition of anyone and everyone...

Everywhere deviations from the standard equipment require different assembly or installation methods, etc. (or even just change connections due to different material thickness), I would carefully consider special requests.

Otherwise, I recommend compiling a short list of details truly considered important in the sense of "seven things," "ten commandments," or the like, where you want something very specific, and otherwise benevolently accept the standard suggestions.

There are suitable house providers for every "taste." Upgrading a simple house to a villa, downgrading the chief physician's prestigious house to the trainee nurse's budget, or choosing a traditional hipped roof bricklayer for a tent roof city villa cube, in my opinion, is not advisable. The more modifications you want to make, the more likely you have chosen the wrong provider regarding matching tastes. Whoever brakes a lot drives in too high a gear.

The builders are grateful for a little deviation from the routine, but you have to keep it moderate; otherwise, construction defects can easily occur.

To ibdk14.
What is worse than beech stairs? Steel stairs! With Robinia.
Really, such sentences already annoy me. If you don't like beech, you can say, I don't like beech. That's all.
Otherwise, 11ant, as is often the case, has recognized it quite well. Customer and provider have to fit together. With us, it fits. What we perceive as coziness will not be done by the contractor, but it will be beautiful floors, fiberglass on some walls, a flowery garden, almost without a fence, pretty light curtains and no Venetian blinds, candles in the window.

I think this attitude is totally great and admirable. Great. Maybe life experience also plays a role; focusing on what truly counts (feasibility and age-appropriateness).
We will do it similarly. Although we are only in our early 30s, we are parents of 5 children and the color of tiles, etc., is not so important to us. More important are things that bother us in everyday life or that we actually need.

Nice that you know what you want and are satisfied with what is feasible!

Sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you. I really expressed myself very badly there, clicked too quickly without thinking again. Best regards.
