You can also install a parking heater. For many people, the bicycle is also an option as a scratch-free alternative.

And spikes... In snow, such a bike is quite a slippery thing, especially going downhill. And that also occurs here in the south.

I would never even think of building an enclosure for the car. They are made to stand outside. If it really bothers you that you have to scrape ice, on the one hand a carport is enough and on the other hand simply a parking heater. But scraping ice three times a year, it’s really not worth it. Instead, you can just let the car warm up or simply spray some windshield washer fluid (with antifreeze) on it. Is that harmful to the car? I don’t care, it’s not a living being.

And if the paint doesn’t look nice anymore, that doesn’t change the usefulness of the car at all. It still gets you from A to B, as long as you need to get from A to B. When autonomous taxis run in 5 to 10 years, I will be one of the first to abolish this senseless thing called a private car. I also prefer the bicycle 100 times more, unfortunately not every route can be covered by bike and I am also somewhat a fair-weather rider.

Building new and being dependent on a car does not fit together for me. Who knows how long we will even be allowed to drive these things. The diesel ban is almost at the eleventh hour. In the future, motorized individual mobility will become significantly more expensive. I basically don’t know any city where the reduction of MIV [motorisierter Individualverkehr] is not part of politics, no matter who governs there (although in cities it is usually rather center-left governments who are clearly anti-car anyway).

At least it drowns out the neighbor's heat pump and makes good air! Otherwise, I quite agree with you.

Pro tip: Put a hot water bottle on the dashboard. Cheap and harmless. As soon as the garden shed is out of the garage, the car will go back in again.
