Correct. Rotating the garage would therefore solve all the aforementioned problems. However, it then wouldn't work with the front door and would also look odd...

Why bleak? With a nice fire in the panoramic fireplace, it’s actually nice.

But actually, we haven’t really had that yet, at least not so far, that we were many people in the living room on a January afternoon. I wouldn’t know of that in almost 30 years at my parents’ either, because when everyone is there, you sit at the dining table.

The living room for us is more of a private place for reading and watching TV, while the dining room is the place for guests. It’s very rare that guests even sit on the couch.
