The openness to the dining area certainly eases the situation a bit. Nevertheless, I just imagine a cozy gathering on a January afternoon in this living room as simply bleak.
Why bleak? With a nice fire in the panoramic fireplace, it’s actually nice.
But actually, we haven’t really had that yet, at least not so far, that we were many people in the living room on a January afternoon. I wouldn’t know of that in almost 30 years at my parents’ either, because when everyone is there, you sit at the dining table.
The living room for us is more of a private place for reading and watching TV, while the dining room is the place for guests. It’s very rare that guests even sit on the couch.
But I understand your argument. Still, I don’t see any way to fit all the requirements into one floor plan.
