Since my wife works part-time as a hairdresser, a room could be planned for that there, and I wouldn’t have the customers standing in the house. The technology could go in the basement, etc., so it would make sense. If so, I would want to plan a spacious single garage and build a carport outside for the second car.

For the layout (even roughly, that is concerning just the room program) I would start with the living floors. The cellar layout often follows from that, ultimately also in the proportions.

Just as an additional point: Without a basement, a technical room is needed on the ground floor. With the same house size, you would therefore have more actual living space, or with the same living space, a smaller house...

I don't quite understand the approach. If it is to be clarified "at the end" whether there is a basement or not, that means to me that the rest of the floor plan is already fixed. But as Robbaut has already pointed out, you have to plan a house with no basement somewhat differently than with one. Would you like to explain what is actually already firmly decided for you?

I too would be culturally inclined to draw that conclusion - however, it is becoming increasingly common to plan the living space program independently of that and to simply place a basement, where not classically located under the house, as a thick rear end of the garage (or alternatively the carport).

We have Plan A "with basement" and Plan B "without basement". The plan with basement, the exterior dimensions are of course smaller than those with "without". I am mainly concerned whether I save money by building a larger garage with storage space in the attic or a basement right away. 10k € one way or the other should not influence the decision. But if I am "forced" by the slope to set foundations, retaining walls or similar... the basement will probably be cheaper for me than a finished double garage. I think without a soil survey I won’t be able to make a decision either.
