Good morning,

yesterday we received an offer for a photovoltaic system. Our construction of the single-family house starts in October 2023 and is expected to be ready for occupancy in September 2024.

We have about 3000 kWh annual consumption for us as a household plus an unknown consumption for the air-water heat pump (Weishaupt Biblock).

We have a roof with exact south orientation at a 25° pitch (gable roof). According to the calculation from the offer, the south roof is completely covered with modules (20 pieces) and the north roof is also equipped with 5 modules.

Attached you will find the details of the offer. The price is €20,900 net with storage and without storage it would cost €15,900 net.

What do you think of the offer? If I understand the discussions here in the forum correctly, the storage should be omitted. Then it would be just under €16,000 and thus a bit over €1,600 / kWp. That is relatively expensive, isn’t it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards, Elias

The roof won't be in place for another 2 years, in my opinion you are definitely too early. Maybe the market will calm down again by then.

Our cheapest offer is 1850€/kwp, so I find your offer good. However, our system is smaller and scaffolding must be provided separately.

You can save the offer as information. Since currently no one can say what will happen next week, 2.5 years is already quite far ahead.

Thank you all. And first of all sorry, I really made a stupid typo there, actually twice :D The house construction starts at the end of 2022 (not 2023) and is then ready to move in at the end of 2023 (not 2024).

That means the roof will already be finished at the end of this year and then (if the scaffolding is still there) the solar installer can go up on it, right? At least I think our general contractor had that in mind.

I’ll ask him how it looks with the price guarantee for the system - whether there even is one if I commit today.

Oh yes and then there’s the question: storage yes/no? I’m leaning towards no, if I read the other forum posts.

I do not understand the 5 modules North. It can be debated whether North makes sense, but due to the orientation, it must be on a separate string. However, 5 modules are too few for their own string. And if North makes sense, then please fill the roof there as well... As it is, it is neither.
