Question: I have now asked another solar installer, and he asked me why we don't add 2-3 solar thermal modules to support the air-water heat pump. I actually thought that normally you either do photovoltaic or solar thermal, and I also had in mind that the additional costs and effort are not worth the savings, but he said it’s not that expensive.

Does anyone have this combination? You rarely see it on house roofs...

I would only do photovoltaics. Not an additional system. In summer, you have enough electricity anyway to heat the water and in winter the water stays cold. [ST] generates output exactly when photovoltaics generate it.

People who know their stuff recommend at least to avoid solar thermal or sometimes even dismantle it to make room for photovoltaics ;) So here, it’s less the air-to-water heat pump that is being supported, but his wallet :)
