Your opinion on our floor plan for a single-family house without a basement

Why do you insist on making your own design? An architect can do that much better. Even if you are building with a [GU], someone from the profession has to draw the plans. So why not just lay the facts on the table and let them figure it out?

Otherwise, I always test my staircase at "Treppe 1x1". For that, you need the room height (including the ceiling).

Don't be discouraged! I also created our floor plan myself, using the same program. During the offer phase, the design was reviewed by a whole bunch of planners and architects but was ultimately incorporated unchanged 1:1 into the submission plan and later into the construction plan (due to lack of alternative suggestions). If you know what you want and have the necessary leisure, it’s doable. It takes a lot of time to find the perfect solution for yourself. For us, a few months. But you only build once.

In this forum, our design was also pretty heavily criticized. The main point of criticism was the 6sqm small study. In the meantime, the house is built and the room looks as expected and is exactly how I wanted it. => I do NOT want to say that you should ignore the suggestions mentioned (which I agree with)! Rather, that tastes are totally different. You yourselves know best what you like.

I think the floor plan is not so bad for a first draft; there have been others here that were worse. I want to encourage you to try a version 2.

Specifically the entrance area: it’s too far back for me. Strangers ringing the bell would already be "too far in the garden" for my taste, too close to the carport and storage room. It’s not inviting when hidden like that either. Then there’s the fact that everyone has to pass by the bathroom window. Unfortunately, we have it like that too, it’s not so great [emoji6] Then, if possible, the freezer should be relatively quickly reachable with the lines. You’re not allowed to build over it.

Make sure to line up the toilet drains on top of each other. Theoretically, the upper half of the plan is to be mirrored, the lower rooms remain....

What’s the deal with 11ants’ remark that you want to build a wooden house with a 22-degree roof, but nothing of that is visible in the plan?

I feel the same, even if some comments sound like the juror Dieter on Germany's Next Top Floor Plan. So as far as I'm concerned, you move on to the next round.

Was that the one here: (with further versions in #44 and #56)?

Played around a bit again to gather ideas. Once with a large gallery or dressing room and a separate master area.

Thank you for the many contributions - especially the encouraging ones. I'll try to work on the improvements in the next few days, but it will probably take some time...

: The wooden house will have a plaster facade and the roof is a bit more complex to draw in Sweet Home 3D - I was just too lazy there. So just imagine it...

: Thank you for your efforts, there are a few things I really like - e.g. the platform staircase, I'll play around with that a bit. However, we don't want to go through the dressing room to get to the bedroom, we don't like that. It might be difficult to get everything to work together.
