Almost everything, you said it. What I put in my washing machine and how I wash high-quality fabrics, let that be my thing :) And how my mom's expensive blanket is washed, too.

In the future, they’ll just be washed in the shower. Planning for 2 sqm more space for that wouldn’t occur to me.
You’re welcome to do that. I can also shower in my tub, but you can’t bathe in your shower :p And I also built 30 sqm bigger than we need right away. I don’t need a house either, I just wanted one. One does it this way, another that way. And who 5 years ago would have thought they’d need a home office since they had their desk in the open-plan office (had) ;) The topic of what a tub can generally be used for has been discussed here many times. Hand washing is a small fraction of that. We don’t need to bring that up again here – but if you want, sure. Outside of
my usual practices, I’m happy to offer tips here in the forum on how
others (or I) or also differently handle things, so that in general and without much investment you can have or will have joy in your house beyond the next 5 - 10 years. Edit: I wish you or your husband no lumbago!
