You want to relocate the door yourself at some point. I consider that a big mistake. Your contractor is also responsible for tiling the floor/walls, etc. You can't have that done first and then move the door.

It would be more practical, of course, if it were done immediately. But phew, it’s already expensive.

Check your other expense items. And remember, if you now consider the change to be the better solution, otherwise you will regret not having done it right for the next few years.

Although I am definitely also an advocate of shower doors and the 160 cm niche is sufficient if you plan a 70 cm door that opens inward into the shower (hinged on the right wall). And you can initially leave it out, test whether the splashing works. If not, you get a door and install it in the shower.

How hard is your water?

Shouldn't that already be included in the current price anyway, if you are only now planning the bathroom? The builder surely hasn't laid all the pipes yet while you are still pondering how to equip the bathroom?!

Closing the hole and plastering, installing a new lintel, cutting and entering the door opening including cleaning up I also see with materials at max €1000.

"Changing plans"... clicking on the door in CAD, dragging the piece over, printing it out. What has he already charged you for the "annoying" conversation?

So, I have reviewed everything once again (including the finances) and moving the door is not an option. Therefore, the floor plan remains as it is. The reasons why it turned out this way now:
- Moving the door is too expensive for me. The floor plan stays as it is.
- I need space for the drying rack (washing frequency of 1-2 adults). I don’t want the laundry to be standing in my own bedroom, nor in the co-houser’s, nor downstairs in the living room/practice room. Drying laundry in the bathroom works well because of the automatic ventilation for humid rooms.
- A shower measuring 160x90 gives a shower enclosure of about 110 cm. That is apparently too short to serve as a proper splash guard. I would need a door or a small extra panel on the shower enclosure. I prefer not to do that. I’d rather have just a simple wall/glass wall.
- I think double washbasins are stupid. It won’t be that intimate with the co-houser that we’ll be in the bathroom together.

For these reasons, the bathroom is now set up this way. Just behind the entrance, a small wall can interrupt the perceived axis to the washbasin a bit.

The wall that separates the shower from the washing machine will be 120 cm high and tiled with the tile used in the shower. I believe 120 cm is enough to avoid too much splashing and high enough to visually hide the washing machine with its accessories.

Unfortunately, the photo rotates by itself and appears here rotated by 90° compared to the floor plan posted above.
Thanks for your tips!

Hm ...

from

about the idea:

where the washing machine would have fit well on the left .. possibly with foldable wall mounts for the laundry.

Where do you want to put a drying rack in the current plan that won’t be in the way from any angle?
