How often do you use your roller shutters?

Well, I only control my roller shutters manually outside the schedule. The rest is done by the program for me. Up in the morning at/after/before sunrise and the other way around in the evening. For me, conveniently solved with a Shelly flush-mounted. Runs completely automatically – even when I'm on vacation. Try doing that with a strap.

It will always be like that, those who saved the money for electric blinds will always defend that decision. I say, at that point I would never have saved. 84% probably wouldn't either, since 84% use blinds daily. Shading in summer with a strap? No thanks. And I hope the old sayings will soon die out: "It used to work without it" blah blah - one could also live in a cave again - that used to work quite well too? If someone honestly says "I wanted to save on the electric blinds" or "on the venetian blinds," then please just say that exactly, and not always "it's just as good," it's not. Maybe an undecided person still reads these posts and thinks "oh, venetian blinds are apparently overrated," that's not the case. Luckily, the poll speaks a clear language.

No, not us. It’s one of the few things we are changing in the second house. In the first house, we had roller shutters with straps. I can only defend that by saying it was the first house, and the financial means were limited. We had to save somewhere. But we really did it differently in the second house. Although we haven’t used the roller shutters extensively so far, I found the straps visually very disturbing afterwards. You don’t have curtains on absolutely every window, and those things just weren’t stylish.

Belt? Not alone because of the thermal bridge and mechanical wear. Anyone who slams the blinds down within 0.5 seconds will soon have to repair them.

My parents-in-law have such neighbors, we call them "the vampires".

In general, wider slats are higher quality/more stable than narrow ones and you shouldn’t do without rail guidance. Our window installer didn’t even offer cable guidance. I haven’t found a house in our neighborhood yet that has cable guidance.

That was something the first consultant from a home building company advised me: Include what is hard to change later and save on things you can easily change afterwards. A bathtub, washbasin, or faucet, for example, can be replaced quickly and easily; retrofitting roller shutters to be electric is difficult. Therefore, it was clear to us from the beginning that they would be electrically operated. Also because of the possibility to automate them later, although I have since realized that I don’t really find that as necessary as I once thought.

Whereas the vote exclusively refers to roller shutters. And I think everyone has to decide for themselves what they want and judge according to their lifestyle. I wouldn’t want venetian blinds, even if I had enough money left for them.
