How often do you use your roller shutters?

Daily -- absolute deep sleeper. Being woken up by daylight as early as 4 in the summer? No way. If I don't have a roller blind available, I use my sleep mask. Otherwise, during the day I am competition for grumpy cat.

Basically, that is correct.
But it is more worthwhile in poorly insulated old buildings than in new buildings. I just read a book about insulation calculations, etc., and it points out that the energy gain in a well-insulated house can be lower than the loss caused by the additional thermal bridge...

We have no roller shutters (unfortunately), but we use the blinds and blackout curtains year-round daily. In winter, when the light is on inside as well as at night, and in summer during the day when there is sunlight and of course at night. It helps a bit against heat and darkens for sleeping. Would never build without them and we will retrofit them as soon as it is financially possible.

But even a passive house has windows that you can open briefly, right?

The roller shutters in our house are controlled via smart home and are thus in operation daily.
For the blinds on the ground floor, there is a fixed program. Every morning at the same time, they tilt to the same angle. In the evening, 45 minutes after sunset, they close completely.
The roller shutters in the bathrooms open at the set time and close at sunset.
For the roller shutters on the upper floor, I have programmed them for the summer months for heat protection purposes so that they open and close with the movement of the sun. That means when the sun is directly in the south, the roller shutters on the south side are closed, but those on the west and east are open. When the sun moves around the house in the afternoon, the south shutters open and those on the west close, until they open again after sunset.
I consider roller shutters indispensable for heat protection—and sometimes also for privacy reasons. And blinds for the living areas allow a free view outside, while keeping curious glances and heat out at the same time.
In the new development next door, I regretfully observe that some homeowners have opted out of blinds. The result is either the roller shutters are completely closed or pleated blinds are installed inside, which remain closed all day.

It's called experience. Even now in winter, the sunny days heat my KFW 55 house up to 24 degrees, the heating is off, only producing hot water. In summer, you quickly have 30 degrees and more in the house if you do nothing against the sun. Ventilation doesn't help once the mass has reached temperature.
Passive house in summer without providing (passive) sun protection ... good night!

But apparently there is passive sun protection in this example:
