Hi,

Situation: 2 children, increased permanent expenses due to simultaneous delivery. Also: daycare costs 500€, 2 cars, no extravagant hobbies, no cleaning lady. Wife working 70%, together we have about 4700 net, plus a thirteenth salary and a little Christmas bonus once in a while. Installment 1000, fixed interest 20 years, but it will still take a long, long time afterwards...

Therefore, the plan was to go with special repayments (goal saved 300€ per month over the year). So far this is working perfectly, there is more left over than expected. Last year we bought a used family car, a lot of stuff for the house, this year two vacations are booked. But we still cook at home and don’t just live in restaurants.

So far we have done everything right for us in this area, we don’t have to worry about it and there is enough left over to live on. The financing takes forever, but what can you do.

Once the [KitaKosten] are gone, I’m building a money storage.

Then use the narrow window of the elementary school years... After that, the costs are usually higher again.

I've heard that several times, but I'm still not quite clear on how I'm supposed to spend an additional €250 per month per child? Sure, during the elementary school years, the after-school care still costs. But after that?

Of course, it depends on the parents. I had to save up most of it myself. My parents only partly covered tennis. A regular sports club never cost a fortune. There was a school trip only every 3 years. I got 15 euros pocket money a month. Without my parents, I would have had to pay for the cinema myself. Designer jeans were either given to me or I had to pay for them myself or got the difference to the normal jeans. I had to save up for my driver's license myself. I had a very old phone that allowed my parents to reach me. If I wanted more, I had to save up for it. I have to say I never missed anything. But I also know the opposite. A child of divorced parents who got everything messed up.
