Yes, it is precisely the operating costs that make it economical. I had my first service this week (€157). When I consider that I have sunk almost €5000 into repairs for my 10-year-old diesel over the last 5 years. It is a Peugeot Ion (so without battery rental). With everything included, the car costs me €75 per month excluding acquisition costs, and I have both a Tank&Rast and an Ikea with free charging stations on my way to work (still).

I actually wanted to get a 5-year-old 7 Series BMW, but then common sense prevailed.

That sounds good.
How long do you need for the distance with 75kg of luggage?

I think driving is okay, I don't have to be crazy about it. In the morning rush hour, the pleasure is very limited.

Especially if you enjoy driving, an electric car is definitely the right choice. I would really like to have one
But it sounds here again as if you can't transport children and crates of water by bike. There are both cargo bikes and trailers for things, children, or dogs. Apart from child seats, of course. Compared to a car, even the most amazing cargo bike is very affordable. Of course, you don't have to if you don't want to, but when I hear what supposedly doesn't work...

I enjoy driving! Especially when I can drive fast. However, it doesn't go as far as me driving "just for fun". That wouldn't even occur to me. And if I had to squeeze myself into the car every morning and join the rush hour traffic, it would no longer be fun.
