The alternative for one’s own understanding is to listen to further opinions on which heating system is the best. The effects and costs of the decision are long-term and sufficiently high to warrant a more detailed examination. And as an informed layperson, in my experience, one sometimes makes better decisions than by following recommendations from non-laypersons.

Thank you for your answers.

It is a very difficult situation for us. We asked 4 experts and three of them clearly tend towards gas + solar.

Only one says that gas + solar is certainly safer and cheaper at the beginning, but in the long run, an air-water heat pump might be better.

However, since we have to make our decision by the weekend (foundations and the base slab will be built next week and the pipes or connections have to be laid for this), we are already afraid of making the wrong decision with the air-water heat pump + photovoltaics.

Should we give in and follow the "expert opinion" or go through with the air-water heat pump?

I have now read through the pages here, but I am still not sure what is best, because you never get this answer so generally.

A small addition: we will use a wood stove because we get the wood cheaply and thus significantly relieve the heating, since we only heat rooms (bathrooms and later the children's rooms) and then mostly use the stove for the living room and open kitchen.

More important is first the question of how high the offers for air-water heat pump+photovoltaics and alternatively gas+solar are?

That depends on many factors.
How is your house insulated? What standard is achieved?
How is the rest of the heating system designed?
Underfloor heating? How tightly laid?
What supply temperature can be operated?

and so on and so forth...

We do a lot ourselves, and my mother’s cousin, who has built many houses, is our construction manager.
We will reach approximately the KfW 55 standard, more likely better than worse.
We will install underfloor heating in all rooms (over 210m² area).

Unfortunately, I am unsure about the flow temperature.

We should actually receive offers today or tomorrow.
