Since no one knows how electricity and gas prices will develop, luck is also a factor. It does no good if heating type A usually lasts 15 years on average, but you are unlucky and the unit suffers an irreparable defect after 5 years, while the neighbor’s runs trouble-free for 25 years.

You can calculate back and forth a lot now: "if..., then you save 1000€, but pay 200€ more per year in the case of..." Compared to the single-family house new construction project volume of often 0.4... 0.5 million and more, 100€ more or less in operating costs is ultimately just peanuts.

My conclusion therefore: Everything is also somewhat a matter of belief and gut feeling. And... climate change... you know the deal: the annual average temperature rises and rises and rises... on average, we heat less and less year by year.

Similar to us
Needed a bit more space in width, base unit has the same dimensions

Noise when the door is open and the system is running can be heard a bit, at full load in winter when hot water is needed. Otherwise nothing

There is no gas here. So heat pump. Geothermal energy because it is cheaper to consume, the heat source is completely maintenance-free and thanks to subsidies only marginally more expensive than an air-water heat pump. The device in the house is as big as a refrigerator including hot water storage.
I would only do an air-water heat pump if indoor installation is possible. Outdoor units are simply hideous. Noise is not really an issue with modern systems.
The stove is a matter of taste. Anyone who turns on the stove because their feet are cold needs a completely different solution. Underfloor heating can do nothing about that at all, because it is not meant to cook feet (which btw. is extremely unhealthy, keyword edema, especially for the ladies).

Costs geothermal vs air-water heat pump have been discussed often enough in this forum ... a ground drilling is much more expensive than the purchase of the air-water heat pump ... for us it made a difference of 10K ... and earth digging is not possible everywhere, moreover only worthwhile if you help out yourself

For us, the drilling costs about 9-12k.

Apparently not often enough.
It largely depends on the local conditions. Fewer meters drilled, lower costs.
In addition, in my experience, geothermal via general contractor can be forgotten if it is supposed to be economical. That means, always commission the drilling and heat pump separately. The reason is simply that heating installers rarely drill themselves, which means they take the risk of wrongly calculating the drilling costs when making the offer. So they add a huge buffer for this.

An air-water heat pump is about €1,000 more expensive compared to a brine-water heat pump. With the brine-water heat pump, the drilling cost is added, for example, €7,500 in our case. In return, there is a €5,000 BAFA subsidy and, for example, in NRW another €5 per meter of drilling depth, for example €500.
Effective additional cost €1,000. The drilling lasts forever, which means at the latest when the heat pump itself is replaced, the brine-water heat pump is ahead. Not to mention lower operating costs, appearance, noise, etc.
