You really sold yourself short there, I started at REWE over 21 years ago with 10DM.

Just a serious question, not only because it affects us personally but purely out of interest, why do so many people here think that a gable roof without eaves is a fashion trend, and why should that be considered a building sin in the future?

There are indeed regions in Germany where a gable roof without overhang is part of the cultural heritage and historical appearance. Like in our area (Altmühltal), for example, the Jura house. If someone here builds a house ala Voralpenland with a 1m roof overhang, it already looks very out of place here.....

I believe we are still the last generation that had to work for leisure/fun ourselves. Although friends in childhood and adolescence already got pocket money back then. On the other hand, there were also those who had to chip in to their parents for better/special clothes. Today many get everything just to be able to focus on school/support/extracurricular activities/volunteering and so on and are driven to and picked up from school because there isn’t enough time for the next activity. When I look at the material from 1st and 3rd grade, they have one subject (English) more. Multiplication starts a year earlier than it did for me. That’s it, so where is the stress???

1. They have mixed classes today. If you look at the school notebooks from the times of single classes and compare them with the mixed ones now, nothing surprises you anymore. They do much less at school than before – so more at home. 2. Many children have so many extracurricular support activities that there is no time left. 3. Some children see it as their right that nothing needs to be done after school. Parents should take a hard look at points 2 and 3. I think we had less, had to help more, did that harm us? There was a car and driver's license at 18 anyway. Self-financed savings, contributions from parents and grandparents. It simply doesn’t work any other way. Somehow you have to get to work and vocational school.

Building sins:
- The size of the houses. I think there will be downsizing or more multi-generational houses again
- The outdoor areas with lots of stone, little greenery
- Children's bathrooms
- the somewhat cool concrete, gray, white look regardless of smokey eyes, tiles, kitchens, etc.

- Exposed concrete walls and floors
- "Light pollution" / over-illumination: up & downlights at 1.50m intervals on all exterior walls, motion sensor spots at the staircase, light strips at TV, storage niches, etc.
- Rock gardens
- White handleless high-gloss kitchens with dark gray tiled or exposed concrete floors
