It is really hard to imagine that what is now considered chic and modern will someday be seen as "how could anyone ever." But yes, that was probably the case for our predecessors as well. We have wood-look tiles and anthracite tiles in the bathrooms... maybe that fits. A smooth white kitchen... hmm, maybe. Parts of the ground floor with larch rhombus facade, possible but hard to imagine.
If I think of the typical 90s house (like, for example, one my parents built):
- Upper floor with vertical spruce tongue-and-groove boards, that was chic, wouldn’t do it today, but I wouldn’t call it a mortal sin
- Beech interior doors, I wouldn’t do that today either, but many still do – especially in the low-price general contractor sector
- Blue-gray carpets, well, they are coming back again anyway
- An "extension conservatory" I never liked, but still many people like it
- Country style kitchen, I wouldn’t do it either, but you can still often buy things like that...
Nothing really comes to mind that I would call an absolute no-go.
