In practice, I rarely see just four-conductor cables, but at least 4DA or two star quads in the cable; [...] at least in practice. I also know the theory that modern LAN only runs over at least Cat.6+, but I have often seen it debunked as just theory. So the popular shock of supposedly deeming a house demolition-worthy at the sight of an ISDN socket is exaggerated. I remain quite chill about that until proven otherwise (which is rare).
But private use is not the same as practice. In practice, there is warranty and standards. In private, I am totally with you. Although nothing below 8 conductors is acceptable, that's out of date. But if the CAT 5 UTP cable runs past Karsten’s microwave, YouTube is broken, right. The counterproof is provided by the professional, because they have to produce measurement protocols. And then it’s over.
OT: By the way, what does your résumé actually look like? Everyone paints a picture of themselves, and yours is really interesting (seriously). Consultant (slid into that?) to window manufacturer and then to ISDN revitalizer, or what?
