In the neighborhood there is a house that an architect built for himself. It is completely clad in anthracite, gable roof, of course anthracite, and has no roof overhang. To my taste, it is utterly ugly.
Otherwise, I think everything that is very extravagant (colors, patterns) is most strongly subject to the spirit of the times. Things you get "tired" of. The rest is again a matter of taste, I always flinch at "cube architecture," and am not a fan of the city villa...
