Yvonne is right .. at least according to the site plan your property ends with the exterior wall and it really needs to be clarified whether windows can be installed in the wall.

Even if there is an undeveloped plot there, I don't believe it is easy to enforce windows there. But you can place windows facing south or west (the direction is not clear from the north arrow and site plan), and the children's rooms should then be arranged in a row with a view of the greenery and not onto a garage courtyard. Instead, the living room, which, due to the separation from the kitchen and dining area, is more associated with the evening, can do without a panoramic view of the greenery. Otherwise, I would have also accommodated the office and guest WC on the first floor, with the bedroom separated from the children's rooms. A skylight would somewhat relieve an interior parent’s bathroom :)

Hello everyone.

First of all, huge thanks for the constructive criticism and especially your suggestions.
We really like the idea from kbt09. However, it might be more sensible to swap the kitchen and living room, so you don’t have to walk so far after shopping and in the evening you can get from the living room to the kids faster. On the other hand, the noise coming from the living room might disturb the kids. We need to think about that again.

Regarding the windows in the kids' rooms, we will have to find out from the building authority. So I can only answer that during the course of the week. Hopefully it will work somehow. o_O Why can’t it just be simple...

The roof window will probably not work since we want to replace the current roof with a better insulated shed roof. But I will only deal with clarifying that once we know if our ideas are even feasible. Therefore, the talks with the building authority are a high priority for now.

I would not swap the living room and eating/cooking area. Square rooms of 5x5 m are particularly difficult to furnish. For a table, you should always calculate 3 m, leaving only 2 m for the kitchen. Just compare the proportions of the two rooms. That's why I always furnish ideas as well.

The way home after shopping is centrally located and not so dramatic ;).

Then we'll be curious to see what the building authority discussions will bring.

Why should the kitchen/dining area not have a passage/door to, for example, the sleeping area?
This would provide more possibilities: a compromise kitchen path to the entrance, pantry in between (so short), access from the dining area to the terrace, etc., and from there you could access the living room.
Otherwise, too much circulation space is wasted.
You can see this quite well in Kerstin's proposal. Well zoned, but a lot of hallway space. If the kitchen is placed in the center, then everything is reachable in a shorter way.
The public area would then be directly at the front by the entrance.

Greetings

Spontaneously, I would have also placed eating/cooking centrally in the middle. however definitely wanted the area to be closed off and, on closer inspection and trying it out, cooking/eating as the central room would have been too dark for me. Therefore, in one of the building areas that also have access to the terrace. The study room definitely by the entrance, but this makes that one area quite square, which is really bad for kitchen/eating use. Or ideally, it works best if you design the kitchen as an L or something like that and place the table in the middle of the room.

What I definitely wouldn’t do in any case is to make this sofa area a passageway.

The hallway areas that have now arisen are practically hallway areas that would otherwise occur in storage rooms, since I have used all hallway areas directly for all storage spaces and have integrated the pantry and utility room into the hallway ;).
