Thanks! Yes, we are aware of that. Although the post was really supposed to be about the floor plan. But that seems to be miserable.

Yes, that is of course true. But our budget is significantly higher.

What does the surroundings look like? I see a large glass front 2.5m from the property boundary. Where are you facing there and who is looking in on you?

Also, I would like to question whether it is wise to place the house at the top when the road is at the bottom. You have to walk a lot uphill. Roughly estimated, you are looking at a height difference of 6-8m from the road, which is no fun with the weekly groceries. Nor with the stroller.

I will refrain from commenting on the interior of the house; others can do that better.

Thanks for the input! The valley front offers a completely unobstructed view. The south-facing glass front has nothing in front of it, since the neighboring house is positioned lower on the slope. However, there are trees and shrubs as a privacy screen. So yes, the view here is not breathtaking, but you would have the sun and the possibility to go from the kitchen to the terrace. Of course, the glass front can also be designed smaller here. It is just a suggestion.

Yes, the positioning of the house is also an issue for us. It is very important to us that you cannot see into the house from the street as much as possible and at the same time we want to optimally use the slope and the view of the valley. That is why we have agreed on the rear third (for now). We would make the path up with switchbacks to the house to reduce the incline. In the end, it is a balance between effort or convenience and construction-related aspects.

Don’t do that. It sounds like a lazy compromise in theory and is certainly terrible in practice. We always spend our vacations in Upper Valais; there, everything is on a slope. But hardly anyone places the house away from the street. With the switchback idea, you’re also ruining the entire garden. The following rough concept might make more sense: - Place the house at the street - Garage on the ground floor, also the entrance, technical rooms, and storage rooms - Living floor on the first upper floor - Sleeping floor on the second upper floor - Possibly pull the house slightly backward and have a roof garden over the garage so no one can look into your living room - The actual garden is behind the house; that area would then need to be terraced

Your concept reminds me a bit of this snapshot, but by now it has made a dead end directly to the house ;)

Thanks for the constructive input! So, the neighbors are all about 10 meters away from the street. Actually, we initially wanted to position the garage in the basement, but we consider the driveway with this slope to be very problematic. The separate positioning should be cheaper and more practical. I think I also exaggerated a bit with the upper third. The positioning is rather central to the upper third. But we gladly take your advice and will probably position the house even lower in the end! Otherwise, the garden is (still) not a big issue for us.
