Honestly, I partly like this style on HGTV. However, I find the tall cabinets in the kitchens terrible. Not even the panels, just the height or that mini cabinet above the fridge that looks out of place. The problem is simply that on 250 sqm, many things look different than on 150 sqm. The nice islands don’t fit into 12 sqm. On the other hand, the bathrooms often look like spruced-up (nice, varied color schemes) wet rooms.

I’m really curious to see what compromises you will make. Color choice (they can be colorful and varied), the furniture selection, the outdoor area

I even like the tall cabinets, especially because I don’t really like German kitchens in very high rooms; it then looks more like a dollhouse that’s only half finished. But like everything, it’s a matter of taste, and I feel the same way about the refrigerator as you do—my husband was so enthusiastic about these huge pieces, but I just thought it was a visual disaster, especially when they extend further into the room than all the other cabinets. Honestly, me too; my husband sometimes has very different ideas of what is "beautiful" when it comes to furniture :) Inside I mostly get to experiment and want to furnish it in a classic or modern country style, natural tones, white, light gray, and soft colors, I like some design classics in furniture (like the Wishbone chairs, for example), but it doesn’t always have to be that way because in the end it’s simply overpriced. For the outdoor areas, it will also be quite natural and calm: wooden terrace, driveway with herringbone-patterned pavers, some trees and shrubs, a vegetable patch. My husband loves gardening and has a very good touch for it, and fortunately, we like exactly the same things here.

I find the doll kitchens pleasant and the tall, also German fitted kitchens, overpowering. I am so glad to no longer need upper cabinets. As I said, I am curious how it will be inside with you.

We also have no wall cabinets, in my opinion it makes it feel more homely.

And in my opinion also more practical. You mostly store things above head height that you don’t really need. When cooking or baking, I don’t want to need a step ladder for anything.

The imposing solidity of a fitted kitchen, requiring an Underberg, was considered a feature during its era: massive sturdiness.

Do you have a "fitted kitchen" or rather individual pieces of furniture, like the old table, sink unit, shelves, buffet cabinet?
