Congratulations on your wonderful house! We are building a very similar house in Munich in terms of style, and your facade truly warms my heart, finally not a (Alp)dream in anthracite-black with huge windows :) Here, with your final budget, it’s already unrealistic to build a house, but that it works SO well in your area and even with [Biberschwanz] (I would have also dearly wished for that here, but my husband brought me back to reason considering the price), fantastic, one can really be a little jealous :)
By the way, I also think your driveway is great and not exaggerated at all, it just fits the rest. I also really, really like the wall colors on the ground floor, ours will be very similar. Only the bathroom doesn’t quite seem right to my eyes, but as always, it’s a matter of taste.
Enjoy the time in your jewel of a house and compliments on everything you’ve accomplished there with so many of your own ideas and your own work!

Well, I like our corner sofa, which isn’t actually in a corner ;) Because when I watch TV or do other things on the sofa, I like to put my feet up.

On the topic:
I like the front, in color and layout (even though I miss a canopy over the front door), I find the hallway with the staircase very nice, I like the flower beds and I also like the gate.

Does the garden house belong to you as well? Very nice!

Our budget from 2018/19 doesn’t allow this anymore either. Our budget was only enough because I negotiated all trades individually and myself from the local area, because we then did some overpriced offers ourselves (e.g. facade stucco around the windows, the shell builder wanted a fortune for that and I only had the cornice stucco and door stucco installed) and because much was done through “neighborly help.” I would really be interested in what your project looks like.

Yes, the garden house belongs to us. In this area, roof overhangs are not common, especially not on the gables. Traditionally, the roof tiles end flush with the masonry at the gable and are plastered. Therefore, new houses with roof overhangs stand out immediately here and remind one of southern Germany... basically like a Tuscan villa with Latin roof tiles in northern Germany.

Oh, the canopy over the front door! Yes, that was also a headache. I hoped that the tympanum would offer some protection. A proper portico with columns and a triangular roof was prohibited by the monument authority, because a portico only existed for princely buildings in the town. And a door tympanum was never covered, as an added roof would destroy the impression. I have already written elsewhere: the house is a collection of compromises, because design took precedence over functionality, or we accepted taking on historically impractical features.

But there are many good canopies right now, especially in the UK.

Sorry, but that’s exactly what I wanted to avoid. The door stucco no longer comes into play. Historically and architecturally, you cannot cover stucco portals or tympanums. The only option would have been to design the tympanum even deeper, practically as a small canopy. But the stuccoer could only offer our depth at most. Beyond that, it would have become unaffordable.
