Beautiful!
I really like it a lot.
One of the few houses where you rather think that it is a renovated old building and not a new construction.
Hello, yes, that was also our intention. Since we couldn't find a suitable house from around 1800 (at least not in our area and otherwise unaffordable as old stock with our requirements of being detached and practical in the layout), we thought we'd just build it ourselves, but if possible at a price that doesn't really hurt. It was almost like a kind of challenge or bet, whether everything would work out or whether we as laymen could really manage it. We live in a UNESCO World Heritage site with many tourists or visitors, and people often ask if it is a renovated monument. We have also often had to give tours – already during the shell construction phase.
Congratulations. Then you can charge admission fees and the house will slowly pay for itself. I might have installed an air-to-water heat pump. Along with a proper photovoltaic system, and your energy balance would be even better. Whether gas is the right choice nowadays...

We deliberately did not choose an air-to-water heat pump. On the one hand, I find the systems in front of or next to the house ugly, I don’t like the quiet humming. On the other hand, we calculated for ourselves that the additional costs compared to a "cheap" gas heating would only pay off after more than 17 years. The same applies to the photovoltaic system: on the one hand, I would have to cover the beautiful beaver tail tiles with photovoltaic modules and on the other hand, the overall impression would be spoiled. We have had constant gas costs of €82 per month for 2 years (including gas stove in the kitchen) and €54 electricity costs. Even if the gas price doubles, it does not really hurt in the total cost calculation of construction costs + running costs.
I can understand you well. Everyone as they like it and find it nice. I also don't find the outdoor compressor pretty, but we were able to integrate it well into the outdoor planning. My electricity and heating costs currently amount to 26.00 euros per month. Let's see how the final bill looks in May next year?

If you have a photovoltaic system and an air-water heat pump, of course you have correspondingly low running costs. However, the photovoltaic system and air-water heat pump also had their price. I have calculated for myself and decided that it does not pay off for me in terms of total costs for the next 15 years. And no one knows if the heating system(s) will actually last 15 years or more. And then I can still switch (hydrogen, mini-nuclear, or photons)
