Why does the bay window cost so much? The bay window actually adds living space on the ground floor and first floor. A dormer, on the other hand, only adds living space on the ground floor. In terms of cost-to-living-space ratio, the bay window is clearly cheaper than a dormer.
I also have to somewhat defend our architect. We gave her the floor plan because we liked it so much. Basically, in the first step, she only enlarged the technical room by adding the bay window. Of course, she could have pointed out the negative aspects to us, but oh well...
You really made us think... which is great because we can still change everything now. What do you think about a volume of about 14 x 8 meters? That way, we would have the largest contiguous garden area to the north, which would also be about 10 meters long. We would then have the architect draw a completely original design. Our other idea was to use a floor plan that we once found here in the forum as a new basis. I’ve attached it. Unfortunately, I no longer remember who it came from, but in any case, many thanks for the idea :)
What do you think? Use that as a basis or start completely new with as broad a volume as possible?
