They are speakers... boxes take place in the ring :P The arrangement would probably also pose insurmountable hurdles for any digital distortion for more demanding listeners, alone because of the extreme off-axis angles... exactly for that reason there are recommendations regarding Dolby arrangements.

Positioning speakers around the couch on stands would be the only apparent option in this design, but that really wouldn’t be an option for me with kids. Then maybe really only execute the rear speakers as highs and install them in the ceiling, angled towards the listener as far as possible.

Overall a step forward! However, it still looks rather cramped and not spacious, I agree with that consensus. For example >7m hallway on the ground floor as a long corridor without further use. Practically for me the point is that the windows and doors have enough distance from the walls to place a cabinet behind them (>65cm), especially the technology and study rooms are very close to the walls. The wardrobe is not generous at ~1.4m, where is storage space for shoes planned? The two light strips at the stairs will be very narrow, that might be intended, otherwise I would use a wider element.

I would swap the technical room and the WC depending on the direction of the stairs, then you could make a larger room out of the technical room and the storage under the stairs.

Floor-to-ceiling windows in the children's rooms are clearly unusable/non-opening on the plan. The 1.8m sliding door in the kitchen cannot be opened or the door protrudes around the corner, because the wall above the door is shorter than the necessary 90cm.

I’m a bit surprised, if she is an interior designer, I would have thought that exactly such points like placing cabinets etc. would have been very consciously considered.

Or place them directly on the wall with appropriate mounts. Stands on the floor are always a very bad idea with small children.

We currently have it like this, however not in the ceiling but on the ceiling, and it could be worse – but also much better.

On the wall in the design shown here, it is unfortunately difficult to impossible, because if you go "behind" alias 7.1, the next wall is the one in the dining room about 5m away, and on the sides there is the living room door in the way. For 5.1, the "slanted wall" could be used, but then the speaker would be on the left in the sliding door. Ergo, the possibility of "ear height" here would only be with stands or else "upwards" into a suspended ceiling, frieze, sail, whatever. I deliberately set the "post" between the living room window and dining room window at about 100°, which also happens to fit quite well with the rest. On the other side in the wall I have to see if we can still create a niche at a suitable location; otherwise, the speaker would probably begrudgingly go on a sideboard. We probably have one node :( good 5m width, good 2.6m room height, let's see if it can be controlled a bit with ceiling sails.

Is that to be understood as criticism or do you think that we are on a pretty good path with the draft?

Sliding door hall - kitchen: True, you are right, a sliding door does not make sense there.

Island with wall panorama: Well, if you have a completely normal kitchen row, you also look at a wall. And you usually spend more time in front of the sink anyway, that's why the view out of the window is more important to us. A TV connection is planned on the wall opposite, but whether we will actually use it directly we do not yet know.

Tiny coffee table: That is the coffee table we currently have. We are quite happy with the size (67 x 67). And the distance between sofa and TV results from the size of our TV and the associated optimal sitting distance.

Long corridor: You are right that it is not perfect, but as you said yourself, you have to live with it if you want a large closed kitchen. And that is definitely more important to us.

Cloakroom: Thanks for the hint. We need to look again at how/if that can be solved.

The hints for the upper floor are also very helpful, thank you very much!

But that is exactly the point. We want two offices, two utility rooms, and a large closed kitchen. Accordingly, the other rooms cannot be much bigger than those in a 150 sqm house. Maybe I do not understand what you mean by "spacious". Do you have examples of similar floor plans that you consider successful?

That will probably be the outcome.. However, it still applies that the sofa should not stand with its back against a wall.

Corridor = long tube: As said, we probably have to accept that with a closed kitchen.

Cloakroom: We have to think about it again.

We like the two light bands from the Viebrockhaus Edition 600, so we adopted that.

Thanks for the hint! That is really a great idea!

I admit that I was not completely precise when redrawing the plans and did not pay attention to every detail. I did not place the sliding door to the kitchen exactly, but overall the wall is 405 cm long, so a 180 cm sliding door can be accommodated.

It would work on the wall if you take the first suggestion from #34. But that of course has other weaknesses (wasted space behind the sofa and no view of the garden from the sofa).

We do not subordinate everything to the topic "home cinema," but would like to get speakers behind/above the sofa. Another idea would be to arrange the sofa as follows. What do you think? Please consider only the living room; I have not adjusted the rest yet. We actually find using the sofa as a room divider quite charming.

The sofa should be positioned so that the seat is centered at an angle in front of the TV. This would also be in the interest of at least somewhat good cinema sound.

This is also the case in the drawing. Our standard sitting/lying place is on the short part of the sofa. Two of us fit there comfortably.
