House Design
- Who planned it: -Do-it-Yourself
- What do you especially like? Why?
Double landing staircase, kitchen and dining in the south, circulation area on the northeast side; large glass area in dining room facing garden, G-shaped kitchen, enlargement of children’s rooms with dormers; hallway should hopefully feel generous although it could be a tad wider
- What don’t you like? Why?
No space for a urinal in the ground floor bathroom
Basement planning not yet good we think, how to separate a later sauna room well?
Personal price limit for the house, incl. equipment: €425,000
- Preferred heating technology: air-to-water heat pump/trench collector + controlled residential ventilation with heat recovery + underfloor heating
If you have to waive something, which details/extensions
- can you do without: exposed roof truss
- cannot do without: shower in ground floor WC; staircase with straight steps; staircase entrance outside dirt area; wardrobe
Why is the design as it is now?
Read a lot of floor plan reviews here, input from builder friends; felt like 100 hours drawing floor plans
- What makes it particularly good or bad in your eyes?
In our view very good use of space for a relatively small house, pleasant hallway layout
What is the most important/basic question about the floor plan summarized in 130 characters?
Is this floor plan practical as it is?
Are there show-stoppers we might have overlooked?
Attached are own drawings from SketchUp / site plan from the development plan
Our plot would be number [9]
Note: Unfortunately the windows are missing in the upper floor. There are planned 150x138cm on the gable sides, the dormers approx. 200x138cm each, and additionally a double casement window 78x160cm in the staircase, parents’ bedroom and bathroom
