... thanks to you for the comments. In principle, exactly the ideas of our current house have been taken into account. We have been living on 190 sqm for 12 years. All rooms can be found in a different arrangement but largely the same size. The hallways are currently just as large and we really like the airy look. New are the AZ on the ground floor and the changing room on the upper floor as well as a 2 sqm larger guest bathroom. This brings us to the 218 sqm living area. The wardrobe is actually quite small. However, I like my other designs even less. I think the sliding door to the living room is a very good idea. The half-turned staircase with 1m step width, slightly deeper steps, and more wide than deep is visually to our taste. We don't like the landing or the straight staircase purely visually.

What still bothers me about the design is the living-dining area. But it is also not ideal in the old house (69 sqm in an L shape, but only 9 sqm kitchen). I would be very grateful for ideas on how this 66 sqm area could be better designed. Open but cozy, symmetrical yet still well thought out. Flooded with light but room for the furniture.

And why do you want to simply clone your old house? That doesn't make the uninspired architecture and layout any better. Take your wishes - not the plans - and go to an architect who designs something appealing.

Actually, it is not cloning but the transfer of positive aspects while simultaneously avoiding the criticisms. Besides, I enjoy developing my own ideas and plans as well. We have already been to one (rather mediocre architect) and will look for another. In my view, simultaneously further developing one's own plans is not a contradiction. Therefore, I appreciate such suggestions, but even more so concrete tips related to the design.

Yes, it is!
You then enter the conversation extremely biased. Put your plans aside and make a list of your wishes. Submit it and look forward to the result.

More than what has been written, I can't think of. Somehow I still can't find a connection to the floor plan. Therefore, I would let the professional handle it and have them try a new approach.

Then just show the (unchanged) inventory as a basis for comparison.
